Data and accuracy
Gannet View is built on free, open ocean data from space agencies and observing programmes. Here is where it comes from and how we treat it.
What we promise
- Every layer shows how fresh it is. A day that is held says it is held. A forecast says it is a forecast.
- A guess never looks like a measurement. Where cloud hid the water, the map shows a faded, dotted estimate.
- Where we have not been able to verify a layer, we say so.
- We never draw detail the data does not have.
