East Australian Current map
The East Australian Current (EAC) carries warm water south along the east coast of Australia. On Gannet View it shows as moving streaks coloured by temperature.
What the map shows
Offshore currents come from satellite-derived surface currents (about 25 km). A finer 9 km ocean model gives the forecast days. Streak length is speed, and tapping the water gives speed and direction in your units.
Warm water and eddies
Overlay sea surface temperature and sea level to see the warm water the EAC carries and the eddies it leaves behind.
Not for navigation
Gannet View is not a chart. Forecast currents are model estimates.
Gannet View shows conditions. It does not tell you where fish are.
