Worldwide layers
New Zealand
New Zealand and its seas are covered by the six layers.

The water here
Warm water arrives from the north on the East Auckland and East Cape currents, and meets cooler water to the south, so strong temperature fronts and eddies sit off the east coast.
This is general ocean science for the region, not a result from our own tests.
