Worldwide layers
US East Coast and Gulf
The Gulf Stream, the Mid-Atlantic canyons, the Florida Keys and the north-central Gulf canyons, with checks against buoys that already show where the temperature map is weak.

The water here
The Gulf Stream runs close to the coast off Cape Hatteras, where it meets cold water from the north, producing some of the sharpest temperature fronts in the world. Further south the Florida Current runs through the Keys; in the Gulf of Mexico the Loop Current and its eddies drive warm water towards the northern canyons.
This is general ocean science for the region, not a result from our own tests.
